Gratitude Of The Day: The examples of humility and courage that surround me.

OK so I am going to be COMPLETELY honest. Its really hard some days to wake up at the crack of dawn and feel grateful. Sometimes you are tired, and ornery, and just plain don't feel good. Translation: I know I have the flu, I did not sleep worth beans, but I have to go into work tonight because in my profession you cannot call in sick. (Mothers carry the same job specs...shout out to all of you ladies! You rock.)
But even on days like today, life has a way of reaching out and saying "Hey, its going to be OK. You are strong enough and you got this thing!" And We do people; we do "Got this thing."
We are stronger than we think, and more courageous than we know, and if we keep on moving forward there is no place we can't go!

Being Grateful For The Storm

Though the eerie fogs may gather
And the rain my endless weep
Though the darkness may be settling
And the ungrateful feelings creep
Though you may wake to illness,
Looking a bit like one undead
Though you may wish to just give up
And crawl back into bed
Find the strength I know you have
To for just a moment rise
Though its hard to do, I this know friend,
So in  humility, some advise;

Look out at the sunrise,
Tis' a wonderful place to start!
For if its bright and beautiful,
a sunrise is an untouchable work of art;
IF its dark and drizzling,
Thank the stars for all that rain
For without the water it provides
Living here on earth would be in vain!
If its cold and snowing,
Say a prayerful thanks for me
For many in this world
Do not get to see what you now see.

So now you have a start,
And as you put the goggles on,
And start looking for the glad things
Instead of searching for whats wrong
IT like a train in motion,
One soon will come to two
Then three and four and five will come
And soon light will come back to you
And you'll see something special
Smiles will conquer your sad
Though the sniffles may continue
It wont seem half as bad

You will find in all that gladness
A strength you had dismissed
And with it you can keep on going
Through hail, and sleet and mist
So when things are not cheery,
Start smaller bits of glee,
Like looking out your window
And being grateful for what you see.
